LASE Delegation Framework

LASE’s Delegation Framework summarises how powers are delegated within the University Group, subject to the requirements of LASE’s Articles of Association.

The Delegation Framework comprises:

  • Introduction to the Framework and the principles behind it.
  • Board of Governors Delegation Framework, approved by LASE’s Board of Governors, which summarises decisions retained by the Board and its committees. The framework uses the principle that if a power is not retained by the Board of Governors, it falls to the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer (Vice-Chancellor and CEO) to exercise that power. If the Board wishes to retain a decision or change a delegation in the future, it can do so by approving an amendment to the framework.
  • Framework for Approving University Group Policies, Statements and Statutory Returns, approved by the Board of Governors, which indicates whether the approval of policies, statements and statutory returns has been retained by the Board of Governors or delegated to a Board committee or an individual.
  • Academic Board Delegation Framework, approved by LASE’s Academic Board, which summarises the powers delegated by the Academic Board.
  • Executive Delegation Framework, approved by the Vice-Chancellor and CEO, which summarises the powers delegated by the Vice-Chancellor and CEO.

Once matters have been approved under the Delegation Framework, any relevant contracts or agreements should be signed according to the University Group’s Contract Signing Procedure.

Please contact the Secretariat team (governance@greenwich.ac.uk or councilsec@kent.ac.uk) if you have any questions regarding the Delegation Framework or Contract Signing Procedure.
