LASE Executive committees

LASE’s executive committees, headed by Vice-Chancellor’s Executive, support the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer in the management of the University Group.

Vice-Chancellor’s Executive

The role of Vice-Chancellor’s Executive (VCE) is to advise the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer on their functions and responsibilities as LASE’s chief executive. This includes advising the Vice-Chancellor on the development, review and implementation of the University Group’s strategy, the approval of business cases for major investments, and the operational management of the University Group.

VCE’s Committees

Vice-Chancellor’s Executive is supported by the following committees whose terms of reference are approved by VCE. The Vice-Chancellor has approved an Executive Delegation Framework which summarises the powers delegated by the Vice-Chancellor to committees and individuals. VCE’s committees are set out in the executive committee chart:

Transformation and Strategy Board oversees LASE’s transformation and integration programme, including major estates and digital projects under the programme, and the development and implementation of LASE’s strategic plan and associated sub-strategies.

Partnerships and Development Board (PDB) is responsible for developing and implementing LASE’s Partnerships strategy, approving and discontinuing educational partnerships, setting the strategic direction for apprenticeships and approving industry partnerships and strategic commercial developments and opportunities. PDB has two sub-committees: Partnerships and Programmes Management Committee (PPMC) which oversees due diligence on new educational partnerships and the approval of programmes, and Apprenticeships Management Committee which oversees apprenticeships. Both also report to Education Strategy Board in the Academic Board committee structure and their terms of reference can be found on the Academic Committees webpage.

Estates and Digital Board oversees LASE’s estates and digital operations, including ‘business as usual’ projects falling outside the transformation and integration programme. It has one sub-committee: Information Assurance and Security Committee, which leads the Group’s information security programme, ensures good information security governance and oversees data protection.

People Board oversees the development and implementation of LASE’s People enabling strategy and People policies and initiatives.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Board is responsible for development and implementation of LASE EDI strategic action plan, EDI initiatives and EDI accreditations.

Sustainability Board oversees LASE’s sustainability strategic action and sustainability policies and initiatives.

Regulatory and Compliance Board oversees compliance areas not assigned to other boards (UKVI, Prevent, Protect, safeguarding, health and safety). It has one sub-committee: Health, Safety and Wellbeing Committee, which acts as LASE’s health and safety committee, approves health and safety policies and oversees staff and student wellbeing.
